Mayor Sheila Dixon Found Guilty
The first female Mayor of Baltimore Maryland Sheila Dixon will be running for Mayor again despite her being found guilty of using at least $2,000 worth of Target and Best Buy gift cards donated for poor children. The money was used to go on her own personal shopping spree. Amongst the things purchased were a digital camcorder, a playstation 2, xbox 360, and other electronic devices. Her attorneys are appealing the decision. According to sources, she had been under investigation for 3-4 years. She was charged with 12 counts of alleged felony theft, perjury, fraud, and misconduct in office. She was accused of receiving bribes in the form of gifts in amounts of at least $15,348 from Ronald H. Lipscomb. Ronald is a developer/her boyfriend who has business ties to the city. The Mayors annual income was $148,000 annualy. Why risk it for about $15,000?
